I decided to something a little different with my Gospel book. I’m thinking about using a literary agent. I’ve never done that before. To be honest, I’ve never even considered doing that before. But, all of the publishing that I’ve done up to this point has been in the academic world. And, that’s a world that I understand pretty well. Publishing for a broader audience is an entirely different beast. So, I’m thinking that connecting with someone who understands that world far better than I do might be a good idea.
So, here’s where things stand. I sent a query letter to an agent that Matt recommended. (Of course, this means that if this doesn’t work out for some reason, I will hold Matt entirely responsible and will send my guard turtle over to his house to terrorize his cat. And, if he doesn’t have a cat, that will simply infuriate my guard turtle even further, causing him to wreck unfathomable havoc on Matt’s most important possessions. Guard turtles are very intuitive about these sorts of things.) On Friday, I heard back from the agent, and he is interested in seeing a full book proposal. So, I sent that off today, and we’re on to stage two. Stage three will probably involve rejection and abject depression that can only be addressed by abusing my ThM students.
I’ll keep you informed.
